HISTORY OF THE GIOIA GROUP
The Gioia Group is a family business, that was started by Angel Gioia sr. in Venezuela in 1940. The company has been in the construction business in Venezuela for over forty years and has developed developing luxury real estate projects in the USA and St Maarten since 1980.
Venezuela
Formerly from Venezuela, we were engaged extensively by the government in the completion of large-scale public sector projects such as roads, airports, harbors and hospitals. These undertakings continued to strengthen our expertise in critical disciplines such as infrastructure design and implementation, urban planning and construction scheduling. These key expertise ensure we deliver on time and on budget, which have resulted a sound and thriving undertaking.
USA
Around 1980 we then broadened our reach to the southern United States and were again called on by the public sector to spearhead the development of a waste water treatment plant for the US Navy in Rockland Key Florida, which required a complete redesign and retrofit to meet industrial use standards.
St Maarten
Once established in St Maarten, since the mid '80s, the company quickly gained prominence for its ability to perform and was commissioned for such high profile projects as the 9000 square meter 20 suite extension and infrastructure for the Oyster Pond Hotel and the reconstruction, rehabilitation and new construction of the Divi Little Bay Hotel in Great Bay.
In early 1990, we moved from contractors to real estate developers. We as a group have built some (if not) the most significant buildings on St Maarten, with a total of over 200,000M2 of both residential and commercial. We have transferred hundreds of apartments in ownership to third parties. We are proud to say that we don't have any dissatisfied clients.

Given our history of providing well managed, budgeted and timely construction, we soon began leveraging our expertise to start developing projects for our own account. Recent examples of Gioia Group’s market knowledge and ability to develop a saleable product include:
• Atlantica Beach Club – a 16 unit upscale ocean front apartment complex
• Coco’s Beach Club – an 18 unit beach front luxury condo development
• Las Arenas – an unparalleled luxury beach front development on the shore of the Caribbean Sea.
These developments sold out in record time.
